Empty DVD shows as full

I have been trying to burn a dvd using nero 7, which has not been a problem in the past. Recently my DVD re-writer shows the disk is full and no matter how many I try I cant seem to get it to work. When it comes to burning the disk a message appears saying insert empty disk.

I have tried both DVD+ & -

I dont use Nero, but make sure in the drop down menu u have the right drive selected. Whach you should do is go to device manager and then uninstall the drive, restart ur comp and windows will install it automatically. Then pop in the CD WITHOUT OPENING NERO and see if the autorun dialog will come up.

Thanks Vizy but no joy, It still shows as full. I dont think Nero is the problem as it happens when any disk is in drive E. I have tried reinstalling new driver but it wont correct it.

Any further help would be appreciated
