I was wondering how are harman kardon speakers are thought of in the speaker industry?

That's a well known brand name there for home stereo systems not just pc speaker sets. That's a name that goes back decades along with Marantz, Kenwood, Bose, and others. Another popular brand usually seeing good prices for pc speakers are Logitech and Creative. Logitech generally has an edge there however.
