Default Master Boot Record Error

Hey guys,

I am getting an error when I boot up my system. I just purchased a new motherboard, and put it in. My hdd already has xp on it, and i can't find my xp cd, is there anything that I have done wrong, or is it just the new motherboard that is throwing off the booting? Also, will I have to reformat? I have a few projects for webdesign, and i'd rather not lose them :/.

When you change something like the motherboard, the boot info changes with it and is not recognized by the previous instillation of XP.

You have 2 choices:

-Reformat (backup by making it a slave on another computer and transferring data), or loose all your data and re-install XP

OR

-buy a new hard drive, install XP on that, and set the older one as a slave.

yes voyager is correct, because you will need to reformat so xp will have the correct drivers and all that...

put your harddrive in a different computer as a slave and get your important stuff off it, then put it back in your computer and reformat

The HDD is trying to use the old drivers on different hardware. You just can't plug and play HDDs. You can try doing a repair...
