Default laptop fan not kicking in

Ok, I have an older laptop, a Fujitsu Biblo NEIX 26x. Its on Windows XP. Anyway, when I turn it on the fan goes on during the "windows xp" screen. After that disapears the goes off and never comes back on. The fan kicked in sometimes when I was using windows 2000 pro though. The computer hasnt turned off due to heat yet, but the bottom does feel quite warm after I listen to music for an hour or so or get into a game. Is there something wrong or am I just being paranoid?

Laptop fans are only supposed to kick in when the CPU or the general laptop starts to get too hot. If it's not turning on it could be that it's just not THAT hot yet and it doesn't need it. It could also be that the fan is actually broken (which happens a lot) and might need replacing. But since it's turning on when windows boots it's most likely still working.

You can easily verify that by running a 5minute Prime95 torture test with a temperaturing monitoring program like MBM5

Your lucky it doesn't come on that often because my laptop fan seems to be always on these days and its really f**cking annoying. Noise it terrible when I'm tring to consentrate (I get distracted quickly). Few seconds of Pascal and the fan comes on like a jet engine

Assuming you consider noise annoying....

My fan doesnt seem to be that annoying(when it does come on). Sounds like a fan from my desktop computer. Not like a hairdyer at all(from a different post).

well what do you know. I was playing a longer session in a game than usual, and low and behold, after 2 hours or so the fan kicked in for about 10-15 seconds. Well I guess Iwas just being ultra paranoid. This is my first laptop, so I there are still some things I have to get used to
