problem with laptop (flinching?)

as you ill notice while i type this every few seond my computer does not espond to the ey that i press! thishappens around every 5 seconds. also if i drag my cursor cross the screen it skips every few seconds, ive tred retore and formatted back to factory settigs. any ideas?

sory for the late reply.

its a hp pavillion zd8000 running xp home.
also when its sticks or skips you can hear a slight quiet buzz noise(like when a disc drive is searching) could it be a fault on the hard drive? i do have another laptop (amilo d) same size drive, canthese just be swapped over or would i have to load the drivers for the hp on it before i could test it in the hp laptop?
