ya that mobo is good to go. xp doesnt support DX10 but it is still the most common OS.Vista is good because its supports dx10 but it still has its problems theres an update often for it. I bought it thinking awsome im up to date with OS but i hate it so much i want my XP back
. thats my opinion though you can choose yourself read some reviews on both and make your decision from there. As for the CPU fan you dont really need it cause theres one that comes with the cpu but if you want it to look cool and keep your temp downt hen go for it if you want to spend the money. As for the thermal compund mine came with it already on but some CPU's you have to do it manualy its not hard to do but dont over do it. And last but not least the PSU idea you have a good one picked out for you already but hey if you have the cash go for it

all right i think i am going down to the local micro center this weekend and picking up all these parts last question before i start building, i am confused as to the power of the heat sink and fan and also the case fans, usb plugs etc etc. where do these all plug into do they get there own power or do they leech it off the motherboard? is it pretty easy to know where all the plugs go on the mobo for instance the led power light of the case or the hdd light from the case?

Are you 100% sure what parts you're getting? If not, I'll give it a try:

the manual for the motherboard will give you a layout and tell you where led plugins go and the power supply connector goes and all of that if your getting the 8800 GPU it will come with power connectors and you will have 2 seperate cables with 2 female parts take 1 female from each one and use the male GPU cords into the females and then basicly kitty wire the rest you probably wont get it your first time but you'll figure it out
if you have more questions when you get your computer that your manuals dont tell you post on here again people will help you. Good Luck

lol I don't know why I have always bought amd so i figured when building why not stick with amd i like the set up though ramodkk thanks for the ideas. instinct now you have confused me again i didn't know the video card was going to need its own power supply ugh so it will have a female plug coming off of it for power and i can just plug it into the psu male side or is it not going to be that easy? also what about grounding myself i heard i should look into this like getting a wrist strap or something? i was going to build the thing in my kitchen where i have granite counters and hard wood floors to minimize the static electricity problem.

lol your power supply will have female parts and your video card will have a power cable connector with male ends. On your power supply there are 2 strands that are the same thing just seperate connect 1 strand female to 1 male part and the other strand female to the other male.
