I was just wondering if AMD Phenom X4 9500 Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology that processor was compatible with Asus M2N-SLI NVIDIA nForce 560 SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, IEEE 1394, USB 2.0, Dual PCI-E MB this motherboard. Also wondering if the 8800GT is compatible with the motherboard. Thanks really need the help.

The 8800GT will without problem. The new quad cores state AM2+/AM2. The model you have there is an AM2 board. I still be wiaiting for a quad seeing a 3ghz clock speed here however rather then the 2.2 and 2.3ghz seen on the first models out. The 9800s would be a problem since those would be PCI-E 2.0 seen there.

Get a true AM2+ motherboard, better compatibility, better upgradeability.

Is the AMD Phenom X4 9600 Compatible with the board? I think the second post answers the question... but just want to make sure.

It all depends if Asus has a Phenom Bios update for it. From what I understand most AM2 boards with a bios update to run a AM2+ Phenom is buggie at best, doesnt work on most and some it does. My suggestion is to get a AM2+ board, if your wanting a SLI board wait till Nvidia releases there AM2+ chipset. In my opinion it is a waste of money to buy a AM2 board at this point.

The AM2+ boards themselves are nothing but a go between from AM2 to AM3 in that sense. The chipsets are lagging behind the cpus with that also being the case for those wanting 4gb or more of memory at the present time.

PCeye AM2+ is not a go between AM2 and AM3. AM3 probably will not be released till 2009. You could say that about almost all there sockets. 745 was a go between Socket A and 939. 939 was go between 754 and AM2, I mean come on! When AMD releases the 45nm. late this year there still going to be AM2+ with DDR2 support. Its not untill 2009 till they release AM3 with DDR3 support. So AM2+ is going to have a longer support than just a go between.
