Default Laptop battery

Ok, my laptop battery is fairly old. Do the batteries just stop trying to charge totally when theyre old? My friend has an uber old laptop(486 on windows 3.1) and his battery still charges, even though it only lasts for about 2 minutes when fully charged. Mine doesnt even try to charge, in windows it says that its charging, but stays at 0% forever. I know I need a new battery, but Im just wondering if theres something wrong with the charging circuit or something.

Also, does anyone know a good place to buy new batteries? I have a Fujitsu FMV Biblo NEIX 26x.

Your battery is not charging, this can be 1 of 2, either your windows is telling you falsly that the battery is not charging, while it is actually charging, or you could have problems with the charger itself, try to use an identical charger and see where is the problem, windows or charger.

This is a dead battery man, a battery that shows 100% full charge and then lasts for a 2-15 minutes is just a dead battery and you should replace it or always work using the charger

Well if I try to run the laptop on the battery it doesnt turn on for even a second. I am just plugging in the laptop to the wall which should charge it. I've left the battery in there while the laptop is turned off and sometimes when turned on. I dont have any identicle chargers, or know anyone with a laptop like mine. Has anyone else experienced this, or do the batteries at least charge even if they dont last long?

Well, this seems like a completely dead battery. If you don't have an identical charger, you can request to try one at one of the shops if this is available. Tell the guys at the shop that you suspect that your charger is dead and you want to make sure to replace it. If the battery remain as it is although charged with a new charger, then you will need a new battery, I think you can try to make sure at the shop too.
