Ok here's an odd problem for you, my level of knowledge is not enough...
Sometimes randomly, almost always when bumped, my computer suddenly emits a high pitched scream. When this happens, the monitor turns all one shade of color, usually like a weird black or something. Anyways it is extremely annoying and all i can do is hold down the power button to stop it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Im going to go crazy if it keeps happening! Thanks in advance. Also dont kno if this is relevant - Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit, 8800 GTX, intel 2.66ghz quad core. let me kno if you need more details. Thanks again. |

Sounds like a loose contact of some type where the arc is being heard through the speakers. Try reseating the sound card as well as other expansion type addons if you are not using the onboard in case one is raised up in a slot. Also look over all connections to see if one is simply resting and not plugged in fully.

wow okay i just spent the last hour tearing apart my computer. In case anyone ever has this problem, here is what i found -
The problem is the 6pin power cable to the 8800 GTX for some reason it is always loose and any bouncing around will instantly disrupt to the computer. When my PC gets an error such as this, it apparently lets me kno by shrieking annoyingly. Anyways i fixed this by securing the cable tightly against the case in such a way that stops it from creating tension between the card and the cable. So ya thats about it. |
