for the past couple of weeks i have not been able to burn data discs with media player 11. it will burn regular audio cds without any problem. i get this error message:
Original Error Code: 8FFD0155 Original Error Message: error message not available of course, over the past week or so ive done all that they suggest (plus and rollback/reinstall), except the error checking. i dont think thats the problem though... like i said, wmp11 burns audio cds fine, and all other burning software works properly (CD and DVD). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i think i may have the problem narrowed down to a recent installation of Roxio Easy Media Creator 10. thats the only thing that i can remember changing within the time media player has been giving me problems. i have the compaq that i have not installed roxio on yet and media player is still working fine on it. they are both connected to the net, and i would assume they would both be running the latest updates, so i dont think its an update problem. when i searched the net for a fix to the possible roxio conflict, i ran across these statements in some forums: "Roxio Drag to Disc and Sonic DLA lock the optical drives to appear as hard drives. This blocks WMP from burning to disc. Turn them off if you want to burn with WMP" "Roxio's Drag to Disk or Sonic's "DLA" will interfere with burning - you may need to turn that off if you're using it - right-click on the drive and choose "Disable drag to disk for this drive." i havent used roxio much at all; i dont know if Drag to Disc/DLA is included with what i have, but if so, how do i turn it off? does anyone know? any other ideas?

^ thanks for the reply. yup, data option is checked.
i can build the playlist. when i put a blank disc into the drive, it calculates the remaining space, like normal. all the songs play in media player. but, for some reason, when i click on the burn button it starts preparing to burn, but as soon as it says preparing, i all of the sudden pops the red X next to the song and the burn progress bar says 'an error occured'. then it quickly moves to the next song and does the same thing.. on down the list. when i click on the web help button, it took me to a ms page, but offers no real solution, just the error code i typed in the original post (there is also a link to that error code page in the first post). like i said, i can go through the same process, when i have the audio cd option picked instead of data disc, and it burns fine... but it will only burn an audio cd, not a data disc. just a side note, i am using the same discs that i have been using for several months now, so its not the discs that are the problem. the drive itself is only a couple months old, and works fine with ALL other burning software (and worked fine with media player before). pretty much the only thing that changed between the time it worked and didnt work was that i had installed roxio easy media creator 10 suite. as i posted above, i found people mention media player having a problem with burning due to a part of the roxio suite, but have yet to find any detailed info or ways to fix the problem.
