Default Installing old game... screen goes black

Hi, I just installed an old game, Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. I can go through the menu's and pick my characters alright, but when you start up a match the screen is almost entirely black. I don't know much about computers but a friend said it might have something to do with a driver. Does anyone know how I could fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

First thing you could try, compatibility mode. Right click the game exe or the shortcut to the exe, compatibility tab, check "run this whatever in comp mode for" 98, 95, whichever.

I tried it, but it didn't work. Let me explain my problem in more detail, there may be something important I should have mentioned. I'll just take it through step by step since I don't know much about computers.

I downloaded the zip folder from a site and extracted it. I ran install and it says archiving, and creates a new folder with some of the same stuff from the other folder in it. I click on the application and it says glide2x.dll not found. Then I tried GLBIOFREAKS (other icon just said biofreaks) and the game starts up. I can pick characters and navigate menu's. It gets into the game and it pans around the arena before the match starts and the visuals look fine. When the game actually begins wherever I move the screen turns black.

If it's an old game you will likely need to use dosbox to run it, like you do with other old games. I run a couple of old games with dosbox.

I see some discussion about it here. You may need to search a bit.
