im not sure how the performance compares. but personally i would go with the 3870 x2.
i always prefer a single card to cf/sli

but ill have a look and see how they compare in benchmarks

3870 x2 was made to compete with the GTX. GTS G92 beats the GTX, and is cheaper.

If he did so SLi, the first choice wouldn't work because X38 does not have SLi capabilities...

And if he went dual GT's, then he would be unable to upgrade... and most likely the CPU would bottleneck quite badly...

Agreed. The ECS one is a steal, especially after the rebate.
