Talking Graphics Card

Hi, i need to buy a graphics card for my computer. I've never bought one before and would like some help. This is my computer:
Emachines T5230
Athlon 64 X2 4400+
1GB DDR2 Ram
250GB Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE integrated
Windows Vista Home Premium

I'm in to fps games and i'd like to get a graphics card for around 40-70 maby 80. I've been looking and what would be better a Radeon HD 2600PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102152

or a

GeForce 8500GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814141065

I mostly just want to play Halo 2 without lagging. I can play Halo 1 fine at low settings right now without lagging.

I have one more question what's better ATI or Nvidia based on your personal experiences?

Thanks, if you want to give me any link to a good graphics card within my price range that'd be greatly appreciated

Can't say I'm sure what would be better of those two. But your best bet is to save up some more cash, and get something thats cost efficient and gives alot of performance for the money. Such as the HD3850.

Save up a little more and get the 8600gt xxx. It is much better, faster, quiet, and cooler running. It's only $110 plus a $30 mail in rebate. I had the same integrated vard as you and bought this 8600gt xxx and my graphics are now great. It's an inexpensive card and gives good performance. You might wanna think about another gig of ram also as vista uses most of a gig on standbye. Also dont forget to check your psu as the stock one probably wont handle a pci-e card. Also check your mobo too. Those cards you suggested probably wont be able to play halo w/o lagging especially with that slower cpu and only 1 gig of ram.

The 8600GT isn't a good gaming card either, the budget card at the moment is still the HD3850 256mb or 512mb.

Then i would say go with what i mentioned. Probably the best you can find for cheap. The cards you recommended are way to slow and have way more ram than what you need. 256mb is more than enough for the 8600gt i recommended and plus it runs at 680mhz versus the 450mhz cards you showed. Also you can overclock the 8600gt a little as i did. I have it running at 700mhz or more when running games.

To ThatGuy16, yes those are good cards but, as he said he's only 14! Im 16 and yes at this age i have a low budget so i went with the 8600gt as it works great for me.
