thanks for all the replys. I think its really a hard to decision to make on which camera is better when looking at the same price range. One thing that I think most people dont catch on to is that even though there are alot of recommendations, unless the person doing the recommendations has used all cameras in that price range i can only take what they are saying with a grain of salt. Not to mention that this is an entry level camera meaning that any upgrade is from a point and shoot, so any new buyer of the dslr will say it is excellent..no matter what camera they buy. Thats not to be offensive to anyone, because peoples experiences on that camera (or cameras)has helped me alot. But i more or less made my decision that nikon and canon are well established and good quality. Then i chose canon over those two because they have never changed there lenses and that they have good lenses. The arguments can go forever but I guess one day you just have to pick a "system" and then start having fun with the camera.

I am planning on getting just the body and adding some good lenses to it. the first probably being the nifty fifty f/1.8. haha im already talking like I know something.

Stuff the 400D has the 350D doesnt
- Dust cleaning
- 2.5" screen vs only 2.0
- 10MP vs 8MP
- 9point autofocus vs 7point

Stuff the 350D has the 400D doesnt
- Spot metering
- 10% avg better battery life on the 350
- Cheaper


Something worth serious consderation is the Sony Alpha cameras -- inbody image stabilization will save you tons of money! (wow, a sony reccomendation... from me!)
