Default Canon 350D or 400D Rebel

Im having a really tough time trying to decide which camera is better. What are your thoughts on the two?

I like the idea of the 400d having 10mega pixels compared to the 350D having 8. But in all reality 8 is probably enough.
It also seems that the 350 D has better images?
So im just trying to understand what would be the major draw to buying a 400D? Because I could be missing something...haha

also do these cameras both have anti shake? or is that in the lenses?

Image stabaliser (anti shake) is in the lens, you'll see the lens with the suffix IS on it.

PErsonally I have the 400D and found it to be excellent so far.

the one thing that seems to be pretty common is the fact that just about any of these types of cameras are pretty outstanding. But so are the prices for alot of them.
i will be a first time user but am defineately willing to buy a more expensive camera if the pictures can justify the price increaes.

I was shopping with a friend one day for a mp3 and saw a really nice looking one that was triple the price than all the others. i told the person who worked there if you can show me how this is triples in quality and music satisfaction etc I will buy it. unfortunately he didnt even come close.

lol ya i know what you mean...some companies *cough* SONY *cough*, slap an extra price sticker on it just because it has their logo or name on it. Its complete BS really. I have found for an mp3 that Creative is one of the best I have ever worked with. It does have a nice price sticker on it but it really does have good quality and a great interface. My personal favorite was the Creative Zen Vision: M. But i digress. Either of those two cameras are nice, but go figure its Canon lol. They have a lot of really good stuff!

I have the 350D and in the end, theres very little difference between the 350 and 400 outside of the extra MP. If you dont plan on doing extreme enlargements, you should be fine with the 350D. The real determining factor of how your pics look is what lenses you buy. Be warned though, because the stock lens is not going to satisfy your needs and most lens upgrades are going to be about the price or more than the actual camera was. I also recommend picking up the Canon Speedlite 430EX as the pop-up flash on 350D is not worth the beans imo.

I have the 400D (XTi) and I love it, however, there isnt any big enough differences in quality or anything like that to spend the extra money on it.

I would pick up a nice cheap XT (350D) and get a nice lense for it, like the Canon 70-200 F4 L...it's around 500 bucks, but it's an amazing lense. Or you can go the way I did, and get a cheaper "budget" lense, If you do that, I suggest the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro F4-5.6. I have that lense and it has done me wonders. Great lense for only 220 bucks.
Here's a link to my Flickr site..everything except the hockey pictures and the Burmingham Roller pictures were taken with the Sigma (but the in-flight pictures of the pigeons are also with the sigma, just the portraits are with my Tamron 28-75 2.8 along with the hockey shots)

Good luck, and you will be more than happy and impressed with either dirrection you go with.

Another cheapo basic zoom lens is the Canon 75-300 which you can get for less $200. Very sharp pictures for a good price. Like MB said though, the 70-200 is really the cream of the crop.

Is there any reason why these are the only two cameras you're considering?

I know all that.
However imo there are better cameras out there for the same price or a little more.
I've told this story many a moon and it seems like it drifts right over people heads, but they'll be using it and not me, so w/e floats
their boat.
