Exclamation Mic for vista = little to no sound

So I finally figured out that vista seems to have a bit of a problem with the whole mic thing. I have the 32 vista premium and I was wondering you guys could help me out by tell me how to improve the volume for my mic because I can barely hear a thing.

have you tried just checking the recording volume control you can do it through the control panel
