Arrow What shall I upgrade

My birthday is coming up and I really need to upgrade my computer. I'll probably get around $100 maybe $150 if I beg.

I used Belarc Advisor to detect everything I have...

Operating System
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

Processor a
1.93 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache

System Model
MSI MS-7021 1.0

Main Circuit Board b
Board: MSI MS-7021 1.0
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. Version 07.00T 04/02/01

Memory Modules c,d
768 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot '0' has 256 MB
Slot '1' has 512 MB

Drives
120.02 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
104.03 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

TDK DVDRW880N [CD-ROM drive]
UF0302G XVS249P SCSI CdRom Device [CD-ROM drive]
3.5" format removeable media [Floppy drive]

WDC WD1200JB-00FUA0 [Hard drive] (120.03 GB) -- drive 0, s/n WD-WCAES1055183, rev 15.05R15, SMART Status: Healthy

Most of all I would like to play some more games... like Company of Heroes and maybe COD4... 8600GT maybe...?

Well yes but can someone point me to the right direction...

No idea what kind of RAM my mobo takes... Nor what CPUs it supports... Nor what Video Cards it supports.

What do you use your computer for ?

I don't know AMD too well, but I think u can get an X2 CPU to fit in that mobo, if that is the case, I'd do that for now...

Maybe add ram or maybe wait to change mobo so u can add DDR2 ram. The same goes for the GPU, but then again if you don't game, don't bother.

In the end it also depends on how much money u can get in the next few months, because if u can get 300-400, that would be worth waiting for to make a real upgrade.

Edit: Your mobo supports AGP card, DDR RAM as I said, not sure for X2 CPU.
Have a look here http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...model=KT6V-LSR

wait... 2gb of ram, you can't use DDR2 ram, so I would stay with what you have now for ram unless u upgrade your mobo...

You couldn't put a 8600Gt in there because its a PCI-e card... let me see what you could put ok.

if your board would take it i would get a x2 for now...then when you upgrade your board you already have a dualcore..unless you wanted to go intel ...if so i would just wait and start fresh...with a new build
