Default Cheap Soundcard?

Would it be worth getting a cheap soundcard (my friend is selling to me for $3) Its not a very good one, but would this be better than an AMD Duron Onboard sound?

not sure, hes a buddy from school and im buying his P3 comp for 18.50 and hes giving me a Video card and Sound card. Neither are probally that good and im not sure the brand on each, but what im curious is if any kind of sound card or graphics card is better than any kind of onboard one

The graphics card almost for certain would be, however the sound card may or may not be, depending on how old it is. If it's only $3, I would buy it and just test it, if it's not better then you didn't really waste much money.

Not much to lose for only $3. Try it out and see if you like it more than your onboard sound.
