Unfortunatly, because of money and time issues, i was not able to build a pc as per the recomendations on this board. So lets start over:

well i actually just sold my phenom and now have an e8400 and im loving it.

what exactly do you use your computer for?

my budget is more or less $1,000

mostly gaming, but music and photo capabilitys are a plus, as is directx 10

i just thought since phenom is "true" quad core, it was better...but what do i know?

it is better. but since the C2Q has a better clock speed and a higher cache, it is unfortunately better.
