Yeah I was kind of curious, how is that software compared to actually buying a portable GPS?

Are you serious?

There are several products out there for well under $200, they use either a USB or Bluetooth GPS receiver, and they usually come with a compatible GPS program such as Microsoft Streets and Trips.

The purpose is for use on a laptop, where you can bring it with you and have it track you just like an automotive GPS.
