i am trying to rebuild a p4 systemax computer...it was working previously it started up windows xp but it would go to the blue screen that says windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer...usually on the blue screen it should say what file or driver caused this but this time it doesnt...so i figured just windows got messed up so i formated the harddrive and i tried putting a copy of windows back on it ...well i put the xp disk in it comes up it loads the drivers then it says setup is starting windows to start the installation and the blue screen comes up again..i've never seen this before...so i pulled the harddrive and i ran the xp cd in it ..it loaded the drives then it said setup is starting windows and sure enough the blue screen came back up ...i am confused...could my motherboard be shot....please someone help me

That makes no difference.
Take out one stick of RAM at a time. Try posting the error code up.
