Default My Computer

What do you guys think of my computer. I know it isn't much but its what ive got to work with and i think ive done a pretty good job with it. If you have any ideas in what to upgrade without spending too much money. Eventually I am buying a new comp, near top of the line quad core and such, but till then this is what I got. Any advice on upgrades or just changes in general to my system would be nice. Also do you think my comp is running too hot?

Yeah, it's a pretty old spec computer. I built a 950mhz duron which must've been 6 or 7 years ago, so you're looking at that kind of age.

You don't say what you want to do with it, but you won't be playing any new games on it. Even older games (3,4 years old) will be a struggle. For that you'll need another video card, the onboard chip will be useless. At that age you'l be looking AGPx8 or so, pick one up for pennies off ebay. Another 512mb ram wouldn't go amiss either.

Ultimately though if you're just using it for office apps and the internet, leave it as it is and save your money

But yeah i really just want to get the most out of this comp. Im kinda scared to OC it b/c i thinks its already been OCed b4 i got it. Also i want to OC the RAM if someone can help me with that

counterstrike will run fine full screen, and probably half decently with a decent video card, so that's cool.

Don't bother overclocking the ram, the gains i've found are minimal, just get another 512, DDR from that time? If you feel you have to o/c it then ask in another part of the forum, i can't remember all that stuff.

CS3 likes a bit of power, but ram will be your friend there, more the better.

edit: i see it's pc100, that'll be cheap as anything, ebay again.

Wow, your CPU is OCd really high. I really wouldn't go any higher than it is or you'll fry it. You should probably look into a new MOBO and CPU, and that way you will also be able to add more RAM if you wanted. 512 is the board's limit based on the chipset, so for more RAM you need a new board. You can buy MOBO CPU combos really cheap, look at tagerdirect.com or newegg.com If your comp works fine for what you are doing, then don't do anything. But if you are actually looking to upgrade, thats what I would do.
