Default Hard drive problems

Hello,
I have a Maxtor 250Gb external, and when i click on it it tends to talk a long time to open, and most time freezes when opening folders. My other external has no problems, is it just the harddrive or somthing else?

Thanks

Go into the recovery console and run a "chkdsk /r" command on it.
