Question 3 audio outputs into two audio inputs?

Hi all,

As you can probably tell, my knowledge of computer audio/speaker systems isn't fantastic!

Anyhow, I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1521 Laptop which only has two female audio ports (one for headphones and one for microphones). However, I also have a Creative 5.1 speaker system which has 3 output channels (one green, one yellow/gold and one black). Is there any way that the speaker system can be connected into the laptop - I assume I will need some sort of adapter, but I'm unsure as to what type I actually need!

Your help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

well, your dell laptop only has one output, the headphone jack. the other, the microphone jack, is an input, and will not output sound.

well, i didnt see any adapters but if you use this you can use your speakers plus you will still have the 5.1 sorround sound, as with if there was an adapter, you would only have stereo.
