Question Video cards for a laptop

Hey, i will be buying a laptop soon, hopefully custom because a store not to far from me offers custom built laptops and i was wondering what kind of video card a laptop uses. are they differnet from desktop cards? im asking because i can get a nvidia 7950 from my friend for free and i want to put it in my laptop. lemme know, thanks.
