Cost? I've seen quad-core Xeons cheaper than desktop quads, even Phenom which is a cheapo...?

Phenom just sucks and is an expensive flop...

Most Xeons that are up to date with other processors such as the Core 2, are expensive...

Like this 45nm Xeon...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...17164&Tpk=Xeon

Or this one...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...GHz+and+higher

When you say they're cheap, you were probably looking back at older models..

What do Xeons have that normal desktops don't? They don't just charge $1000 for the name "Xeon", do they? I figured that if they're a letdown in desktops, there has to be something (for servers) that normal C2Ds or quads don't have...

Servers need reliability, I would assume the chip is better built... Like the metals have better purity...
