Default My X800XL Came Today!

I got my card today, I've installed the latest Catalyst and Display drivers for now. I couldn't believe how well it actually plays games!! It cost me less than £25 and i can play CoD4 at 1280 x 1024 all on high. The frame rates always above 30fps unless theres loads of grenades or shooting, then it might drop down to about 26 but it is literally unnoticeable.
I'm so happy it's unbelievable, can't wait to complete the game now seen as my brother's done it twice already.

Liam.

Glad you enjoy it! It's a very good budget card.

I can't believe that Ati made this 3/4 years ago! What have they been doing since, if i was head of ATi or AMD I would sack the lot of them because it's obvious that somethings not been going right since.

Yeah, the X800XL is better than most cards made after it like the 7600GT or the X1650PRO. It's mostly because of its 256-bit memory interface.

If I remember correctly, the x850xt was considered the 7600gt's equal "back in the day". The XT being the Xl's superior, I would take issue with it being called better. The much increased memory bandwidth on the XL doesn't count for nothing, of course, AA and AF performance may be another matter entirely.

Ok, I think I've found the best settings for it. I've managed to overclock the card to 425MHz on the core and 520MHz on the memory. Now i can play Call of Duty 4 with one setting on extra and the other two on high, with half AF and 2X AA at 1280 x 1024 with the frame rates NEVER dipping below 35 fps!

ATiTool, for some reason anything over 425MHz on the core just makes it totally unstable, but it's as stable as the Eiffel Tower at 425MHz.
