I recently got hold of a desk top that used to be networked. I will be using it as a desk top but when it starts up it boots directly into the network and asks for passwords which I dont have. How can I get to use this as a stand alone now? What i know about PC's I could write on a postage stamp... anyone help?

I have NO clue what you're saying/asking about the postage stamp...
As for logging in, we need to know what OS you have. If it's NT/2000/XP, then you're pretty much lost without the password as most have system passwords, not just network passwords. If it's 95/98/ME, you should be able to just cancle it and get around it no prob...

No sorry its one of my old works PC's so i definatly know thats not the case. However rather than skip it I thought I could/may be able to use it to back up my laptop data. I hate the idea of losing my laptop and all my work.
Perhaps the skip is the place for it.. thought someone one might have an idea how I could get it running without buying a new hard drive as a friend suggested. |

..You can write very little on a postage stamp .So the passwords are windows passwords? they are asked before or after windows boots? If it's a bios password then reset cmos.. if Windows then reinstal.
