Default homemade mouse

I'm working on designing a mouse for a engineering project but I don't know where or what to buy. I need to know what parts to use, where to buy it from, any websites that have free products that would be useful, and any other input. Thanks, Nate

Well, if you just want a new case for the mouse, you could just rip the insides out of an old mouse, build your case and put the parts into your new mouse. However you probably want to completely do it yourself, I personally would take apart a mouse, and figure out exactly what parts I needed, most of the boards and stuff would probably be easy to find, not sure about anything else. Sorry, I really am not sure.

More detail on the project, maybe?...like what kindsa stuff are you supposed to do by yourself and so on. Also, does it matter what kinda mouse it is? If not, some kinda Honeywell-type of mouse would probably be fairly easy to make.

All you should need is a usb interface, some buttons, and some pots for the scroll.
