If you downloaded illegally, then maybe. But photoshop is a memory hog, and it adds items to your start up log.

Are you running xp or vista, not that it makes a difference I guess. I don't know how to do this in vista, but if your running xp go to the start menu and click on run, in the popup windown type msconfig, then click ok, go to the start up tab and unclick anything that has to do with photoshop, click apply and then reboot and see if it's faster.
