Default hp printer has mind of its own

need some help..I have an HP 1430 printer....It has stopped working...I get a message that there is a paper jam...even though there is no paper in machine...any help greatly appreciated...thanks

This is a fairly common problem for HPs. All it means it that some piece (probably plastic) has broken off somewhere inside of the machine and so then the machine is not having some of its switches properly tripped and therefore thinks there's a paper jam when there isn't. Short answer, you're printer's done, time to get a new one...
