Default Removing Programs

When I start my computer I get the message 'not enough free space on C drive...' but it boots fine. I go into Add/Remove Programs and there are several large programs in there that I'd like to delete, but have several questions.

The first program (which I believe was located on the J drive) I'm fairly sure I've already deleted it. It still comes under Add/Remove Programs, but when I go to delete it, it says 'cannot locate the file' (or something like that') I may have removed it already, but if I had, there surely would be sufficient free space on the C drive.

The second program (which I also believe is located on the J drive) I think its a program that I use, but it says last used 2/19. I use it daily, so I'm not clear on that.

This is happening on my desktop. The J drive is the hard drive from my old laptop, which I installed in my desktop, I believe as a slave drive.

Any help on deleting the first program and clarifying the identity/location of the second program would be much appreciated. Thanks

Are you running vista? If so you probably need to delete old restore points. How big is your hard drive? To delete those programs go to search bar or run and type "installer". When the window pops up, right click on the bar that says name and date modified and click "more" then make sure "subject" has a check next to it and press "ok". Then you can search through the window and find the one of the program you want to uninstall and right click it and press "uninstall". If that doesnt work then you could just delete it.

Hi,

It's XP, not Vista.

I typed 'installer' at the run prompt, and got a list of files and folders in the Windows/Installer folder.

I wasn't clear on where to do the rest of the steps you've mentioned

I've used the disk cleanup to remove anything I could. I still need to remove one of these programs to free up additional space.

Disk size is 5.55GB. 5.37GB are shown as being used.

Not sure what 'Being the with the OS?????' means.

Could I click on the option 'compress drive to save disk space'?

Do as I said!! When you get to the installer folder right click on the bar at the top and follow the rest of my instructions. See how the pic has the Subject tab? Thats what you want. Then scroll down and find the one for the program you want gone.
