Post Finally, I got a stable 3.0GHz overclock!

After a week (no joke! ) of different attempts to reach 3.0GHz stable and at low voltage...I failed! (the low voltage part of the sentence)

I got the stable part but at high voltages. Man I was at 2.7GHz thinking, am I really gonna let this chip stay at 2.7GHz after reading all those good reviews? Hell no! so heck I raised the voltage to 1.475v (one notch higher than last time I tried to reach 3.0GHz and make it stable), gave it 333 FSB and booted up Vista no problem.

I did 5 hours under ORTHOS with no problems/errors. That's stable I guess.
Temps are idling at ~29C and 55C max under ORTHOS load.

***EDIT: NOT ^

You see why I got the E2140?

Anyways, 2.88 is still great!

Yeah, but I got attracted for the little $3+ for the E2160 thinking those 200MHz on stock would actually help!

Lol yeah a 1GHz OC is perfect for me, what, it's like a $70 chip? But yeah I wish I could be stable at 3.0GHz. To think I was aiming at 3.2Ghz when I bought it!

I could actually run ORTHOS 8 hours at 3.0GHz but my voltage was at 1.475v (on BIOS) and COD4 crashed so I didn't feel like taking anymore risk and 2.88GHz is where I stayed.

LOL

what mobo and cooling are you using? i'm seriously thinking about building another comp based on a low end core2duo and overclock the hell out of it and your results is more confirmation of it being a good idea

Hehe it's cool I'm like that sometimes. So what are your current specs?

These little Exxx budget CPUs are really worth the cash man!
