did you try killing it or restarting the process as i suggested? what are the results?

as a former hijackthis user all you have to do is google each entry to read up on it. and if you do this a lot you can remember which ones are malwares. a lot of work. not very fun.

i find the best application for this is sysinternal's process viewer/or process explorer... i forget the name. i'll tell yo once i find it. just pay attention to the signatures. virus and adwares won't expose themselves and thus will leave it blank whereas microsoft as well as other reputable companies will sign theirs.

I tried to download Process Explorer from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx, but it isn't downloading properly. I'll try my luck in the morning. When I do eventually get it installed and running I won't know what to do or what to delete. Any pointers?

The description for the file is "Host Process for Windows Services" and that sounds like something that is necessary to windows. My computer hasn't been running as hard lately so it may have just been a fluke.
