Why is my computer running so hard?
Lately my computer's CPU has been running really hard (i have one of those gadgets on my windows sidebar). Usually it runs around 1-20% when I'm surfing the internet, but nowadays its running at 50%+ when I have no programs open and I'm just sitting on the desktop. I don't know what is going on. Maybe some of you do?

open task manager.
see which program is being maxed out. being a c2d processor it'll be the one with 50% or 100%. find out why (faulty program/driver/virus/etc). you can kill it or restart it

kill it and see how your computer responds.
if your computer needs it then next time just restart that process. the easiest and no sweat way is to download procexp.exe, run it, locate that program, right click, restart. sometimes malware will disguise themselves as an essential program. sysinternals have programs where you can view the file's signatures
