Thumbs up what laptop?

Hey guys. First post here in a long time!

I need some recommendations, possibly from personal experience or impressive spec.

I’m looking for a new laptop. My current laptop (fujitsu siemens v2040) is getting very old and slow now, had it for almost 4 years so its time for an upgrade!
I'm now looking for a new, up to date one, with vista, but am finding it difficult for my particular wanted spec.

I’m looking for a very small, light laptop but not compromising spec too much, 12” screen to about 13” max. Now I know that the smaller they are the spec seems to be compromised for the size and weight but I’m seeing if any of you know of any good one which have the best of both worlds.
Things I do on my laptop are:
-mostly internet based, instant messenger, surfing.
-downloading files
-spreadsheets (word, excel...)
-email
-music (over 3,500 tracks so big hard drive needed)
These are all rather basic spec needs but what I also need, which will require a higher spec are:
-computer aided designing (good-ish graphic card needed)
-programming (needs to be fast)
Not really a gamer, so that’s not a necessary.

Laptops that caught my eye are:
-ThinkPad’s
-Hp entertainment laptops
But that’s it, I really like the tablet features that both those offer so as many responses with them as possible, but apart from that I cant find any others.

So, recommendations please. Not too expensive though, I’m a student so not a lot of cash

Thanks alot in advanced

Ritchie
