Good Luck!

I only just noticed that you had an older 40GB drive (which I assume is IDE rather than SATA), make sure that DMA is enabled on it. To do so, go into Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager. Expand the IDE/ATAPI Controllers section and double click on Primary IDE Controller. Click on Advanced Settings and make sure that the Current Transfer Mode shows Multi-Word DMA for all connected devices. Repeat for the Secondary IDE Controller

If it says PIO instead of DMA tell me. If it shows DMA, try running ComboFix or DSS in Safe Mode.
