Bad ram can cause your computer to crash. It happened to me. Sometimes the blue screen comes up and lets you know which part of the memory was bad and sometimes it just freezes.

So I have to re-install my operating system or do I have to find the corrupt programs and re-install them?

Well we can rule that out then.

Have you done a sweep of your system with anti-virus software?

Other than that back up any important data, and re-install your operating system. If problems persist after that then most likely some other piece of hardware causing the issues
