Besides Boot Camp you may use some another nice apps to run Windows on your Mac. Boot Camp is perfect for gaming. If you gonna run some Windows app to work with I recommend you to use Parallels or Fusion that allows you to run Windows and OSX simultaneously. You will not need to reboot every time you want to switch from one OS to another. I use Parallels Desktop and have no issues with this app.
Good luck!

Using parallels does the system remain pretty stable? Or have there been known glitches/problems switching back and forth?

You've just heard and i have an experience.
I've been searching for huge information about VMWare Fusion and Parallels Desktop to choose one of them and finally found out that one cannot be obviously better than another. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. I've randomly chosen Parallels and I'm sure I haven't mistaken.
Perfect interface and usability. Easy to install, easy to run. I've no issues with this app.
So, don't believe rumours so easy...
