I would like to clone some CD's because I've lost some expensive programs purchased on CD due to moving to a different address or damage to the original CD's. For instance, my two original Windows XP CD's (for two computers) were both cracked and rendered useless by the way there were removed from their sleeves and packed by a furniture removal company. It would also be nice to be able to clone DVD's. I have programs such as the Brittanica Encyclopedia on DVD. Which free or inexpensive program will clone CD's and DVD's in a simple operation? I have Nero but have removed it from my computer because the non-copying Nero programs, like the photo reader, aggressively interfere with my other software. Thanks for any good advice!

Try DVDFAb or PowerISO. They both work great. With DVDFab you can convert a dvd into just about anything.

Backing up DVD's and software such as an Operating system would need you too by pass the copy right protection present on the media. Be careful when talking about this even if you have a honest a legit reason for making a back-up.

Technically it's not illegal to copy a Operating System Disk!! Keygens and similar are illegal or a version that requires no key.

One law states you can make a your own personal backup of any type of media.
Another law says you can't break any type of encryption that may be present on the media. They have you coming and going, don't they? I personally make backups of all my kids DVDs. If they destroy the copy (it will happen), I just make another. I'm just protecting my investment. |
