Cord got stuck on chair, speaker cable was yanked out and a piece of the jack is stuck inside of the computer. Ive attempted a paperclip+tape method to get it out and it wont budge.
Anyone have any tips/tricks for getting a small piece of the jack out of the computer? |

What's wrong with magnet? I would've thought that the speaker jack would be far enough away from anything effected by magnets. (feel free to contradict me)

quality not so much, if the shorting will affect it it is more likely to spike the card and blow something important. and then there is the possibility that the spike continues through your pci port...

well actually yes there is, but the most of the port will be covered by a little metal box, this is merely a cover plate but it is often soldered to the board, if you could cut off the top or some how pull it back you would prob see the method by which jacks meet the contact points, its hard to describe but as soon as you get the cover plate off you'll see what i mean

eg in this pic you can see the audio jack ports are covered by a little metal box, this can be opened from the top sometimes (dont worry if you damage the metal cover it doesnt do much be keep dust away from the contacts - you could wrap a little bit of a plastic bag around the exposed ports to stop the dust)
