First Time Builder, Want Your Advice

I am looking to build this setup within the upcoming month or two for sure after I have made my final decisions on the parts. I will list the items in which I am looking and and would like your opinions on what I should keep or get rid of. What's good and what is not.
-Antec Nine Hundred Case
-eVGA nVidia nForce 790i motherboard
-Memory DDR3 however no clue where to begin with so many factors like 7-7-7-20 or 9-9-9-24 and 10666 or 12800. I do want 4GB 2x2GB. Patriot Viper 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) PVS34G1333LLK is what I was looking at at $369.00. Help here!
-Western Digital Caviar RE WD2500YS (x1)
-eVGA GeForce 9800 GX2 (x1 for now)
-Dell E248WFP monitor or Samsung 2493HM
This is going to be an air cooled system because I am not willing to screw myself by making one mistake with water cooling as this will be my first build ever. The parts I am unclear on are the hard drive, the memory and the monitors. I appreciate any and all advice/comments/opinions and thank you for you time.

HDD: may worth to get a WD Raptor.
RAM: CL7 faster than CL9, and PC3 12800 faster than PC3 10666. But which RAM you end up would depends on your budget...
