Try reinstallling the dictionary software to see if that straightens that out. If not you will likely have to start uninstalling one update at a time to see which one went on bad or simply use a system restore point to back clock everything. A reinstall of the software should be the first thing tried.
To avoid unwanted updates like device drivers where the newer versions caused problems the automatic update setting was simply turned off. A quick trip to the support site to select the custom not express option allows you to hand pick which ones you want on plus look over optional software and hardware updates. The last thought is that an update simply corrected an existing problem not known about before.
