Ive been looking at these a lot lately trying to decide if it would be worth it to buy one or not. Im getting rid of my old clunky Compaq and really just wanted something little to travel with me as a photo-editing/web site editing computer and this seems sort of ideal. I saw that I could install XP on it and use flash drives as memory, but would photoshop and expression web run on it without issue?
Any one have one or any thoughts on them? |

They should do just fine with photoshop, I could use photoshop with my old Fujitsu PII laptop. Since that thing was 266mhz and these are like 800mhz or something, it should do it just fine. I play around with the one in our store here quite a bit, they definately are neat.

I think they are awesome!
And with a price tag that small its well worth it for the things you want to do with it. Even with the pre-loaded linux id say there good. As for colour, id go for blue

I don't really plan on getting one at least any time soon but I love it none the less. I especially love the low price and these are changing the game, it seems like everyone has copycates in the making and it's just going to lower prices and push more technology for a good price

it's a good price tag for something so small. it's smaller than you think when you see it in person. when i type on mine, i always fat finger it since the keys are so small lol. it just takes to time to get use to the small keyboard and screen. to me, it's incredibly slow since i been using my OCed custom desktop for a while

Yes they are small, but you get used to typing on them pretty quick. I would not run XP on it, I would get the Linux version, it will run a lot better for you. These things are certainly not powerhouses, you have to think about the hardware. I'm not sure if they are changing this with the new EEE's, but they (the current one's) support 1GB of RAM out of the box; if you want to install 2GB RAM you need to install a modified kernel that can address the 2GB. The instructions to do this can be found on the EEE Forums.
For the money, highly portable, excellent for surfing and light to moderate use. I don't think I would go so far as to do much Photoshopping on one, though I could be wrong.
