Default Microsoft LX 3000 + Logitech X-540 = :(

Today in the mail i for a free Microsoft LX 3000 headset. when i installed the driver into my computer and plugged in the headset i couldn't hear any sound except for the clicking noise you hear when you click on folders. i also have a logitech X-540 5.1 sound system hooked up on my computer. does anyone know how i can fix this? Thanks XD
