Thumbs up Another Birthday Build For A Friend

So another good friend had a birthday so I pulled together the gang and we came up with this:

E6750 Core 2 Duo
Gigabyte DS3 mobo
EVGA 9600GT 512MB
4GB Gskill Ram
500GB Seagate 32MB Cache HD
Liteon Sata DVD RW
Cooler Master Centurion Blue Case
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
Logitech Wireless KB and Mouse
19" Sony Brightview monitor (on loan as he is getting a 37" HD LCD in June)
and a his own copy of Call of Duty 4

All totall was $915 shipped (minus KB, mouse, and COD4) and highly worth it. The build took me 45 minutes (with several breaks and distractions) and the install took about 30 minutes (with me not there to click yes right away). He already has the Bose Companion 5 speakers if you were wondering...

The best part was him coming over not knowing anything and he see's a new computer on the kitchen table set up and running and he assumed it was a new one my roommates had built for themselves. When I said "oh thats yours" he looked like a 8yr old on Christmas day.

Anyway maybe you think I'm crazy, rich, or stupid but I definately think it was worth it to do something nice for a friend who didn't expect anything from anyone. The look on his face alone made my year and maybe this idea inspired someone else to do something nice/cool for a friend or family member.

Peace out!

You did a great thing
Hopfully one of these days I can get a job that will allow me to spend that kind of money for my friends and family.

Default Vista 64

Oh and let me add that Vista 64 has been problem free on my computer and my 2 roommates systems as well as my friends new system. After running Vista with 2GB of ram and now 4GB myself it is well worth the upgrade to Vista 64 or XP 64 as the extra ram makes the system fly. 2GB was slow and not at all fun compared to how it flies with 4GB of ram. Side by side my E6600 was slower than an XP system with 2GB of ram and an X2 3800+. Now it smokes it like it should with 4GB of ram.

Both my roommates are running 8GB of ram and it's well just impressive how fast things load and snappy the system is. Not that mine is slow at all!

I'd love to be able to do that for friends whenever I wanted.

I'm still only a jobless junior in high school, so thats not happening anytime soon.

Great job though man!
