Default Old Hardware, Jukebox

I'm looking to build an audio-only media player out of some old hardware I've got laying around.

What operating system would best suit that?
The system has 533mhz, 128mb of ram (that one may get an upgrade at some point, but not right now)
It's an old HP Pavilion but I've butchered it a little so I don't know the exact model.

I have Linux on it right now, but I don't have any idea what I'm doing and it's getting frustrating so I'm thinking I might like to try some form of Windows.

If I could get the sound-card working with Linux, I might be able to make it work but again, I have no idea what I'm doing so it's not going well.

Also, any suggestions on which media player would be best for the suggested OS would be good too. Something easy to use so my less-tech-savvy roommates could just walk up and play some tunes.

I'd like to think this computer can handle this task since I'm only asking it to do one thing, and it used to do it when it was new alright.
