Default Building New Desktop Comp.

Hi all...

I'm considering buying a new setup for this year

I don't want to build anything too pricey, but runs games in the market at the minute...I'm not too bothered about the graphics card. I'm not looking for something like a GT 6800, just a cheap PCI Express card... If you think that there is a better component out there which I should use, please say

Here's what I'm thinking:

====================
Motherboard:
MSI "K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI" NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 939 CPU

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...30-487R&depa=1
====================
CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 512KB L2 Cache, Socket 939 64-bit Processor

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...103-501&DEPA=0
====================
RAM:
Corsair Value Select 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...145-026&depa=0
====================
Hard Disk Drive:
Hitachi 160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...145-051&DEPA=1
====================
Graphics Card:
ASUS ATI RADEON X600PRO 128MB DDR PCI-EXPRESS DVI

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...183422893&rd=1
====================

Whaddya think? Yes, I know it's not "the best" but I don't wanna spend too much money, im only 14 and I don't have much money in the wallet!

Oh, and perhaps a 450 Watt PSU. Can anyone recommend a PSU which is cheap, reputable and suits this system? Thanks!

Advice, replacements of components ect... please!

Cheers,

Rambo

Step away from the SLI and get a 6600GT. Other than that the system looks pretty decent

Advice taken...Do you mean AGP though?
Because if you do, then the motherboard would have to change too... Also, I had a quick look on www.overclockers.co.uk , and they cost £130 ~ Pretty pricey for me...

Dont matter really thats your preference. I would let budget dictate my choices. As for reccomendations:
- MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum (i.e., the nonSLI one) [PCIe]
- DFI LanParty4 Ultra (again, non SLI) [PCIe]
- MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum [AGP]
As for price change, SLI will cost more than non-SLI anyday.

Hmmmm, do you think it would major benefit my "gaming" experience if I used PCI Express? Or should I stay with an AGP 6600?

I saw this one:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...145-113&depa=1

much cheaper than £130 it's in $'s, but much cheaper...

Although, I saw a PCI Express x16:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...122-202&depa=1

And this is much cheaper than the AGP one.

I think I'll go with PCI Express, but not an SLI motherboard...With the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum (non SLI one ).

1. PCIe 6600GT is cheaper than AGP 6600GT
2. Getting a PCIe board will be a bit more expensive but gives you a bit more life on the board

much cheaper than £
Thats because i said 6600GT and not 6600

Thats because the NV43 is natively PCIe so to go from PCIe to AGP will add cost

Ok, so the things I've changed:

====================
Motherboard:
MSI "K8N Neo4 Platinum" NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 939 CPU

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...30-484R&depa=0
$114.00
====================
Graphics Card:
Leadtek nVIDIA GeForce 6600 Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-Bit, DVI/HDTV-Out, PCI-Express

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...122-202&depa=1
$109.00
====================

Everything else stay the same...Whaddya think?

Thankyou, very informative

That's the only bit I don't understand, especially the NV43, what does that mean?
