Question ram question

so, my whole computer is down, and people keep suggesting its the ram, so my question is this. can one bad stick of ram waylay the whole thing? ive hot 4 1gig sticks of 800 mhz ddr2. Trying hard not to have to rebuild so any imput would be great.

If you think its the ram, take all but 1 stick out and see if it will boot. Try it with each stick.
