Default password protect a folder

is there a FREE way to do this, or at least lock the folder to only one user?

Use a program called winrar! You can zip the files with this program which will reduce the size of the file and then you can put a password on the whole .rar file or each file inside. Very handy!!

You do ^^

Or here is a link to download a zip file. This zip file can be used anywhere... USB's... on many computers without the need of installation.

Unzip the files and put them in a folder and done

Can you do all of this without actually having to purchase the software? I have winrar downloaded, but it has limited execution and a get a prompt every so often giving me the option to buy.
